Development activities are measured in terms of National Products, which in turn are defined as production of goods and services during the accounting period. However, certain Environmental function, which are crucial for economic performance and generation of human welfare such as provision of Natural Resources to production and consumption activities like waste absorption by Environmental media and Environmental services of life support and other human amenities are taken into account only partly in conventional accounts. The scarcities of natural Resources now threaten the sustained productivity of the economy and economic production and consumption activities. These activities impair environmental quality by over loading natural sinks with wastes and pollutants.It must be emphasized that environment protection is not costless. The best can be done by enforcing the "Polluter Pay Principle." Efficient use of natural resources of land, water, energy, forests, livestock, human resources and biological resources is important for the survival of humanity for sustainability.
