25 papers, from a conference held at Glasgow in 2000, focus on the issues involved in the archaeology of battlefields, mostly in medieval Europe, in North America and in the warzones of the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition to papers which look at the ways in which battlefield evidence should be investigated and interpreted, others question how these unique sites should be preserved and managed.
