Recently, there has been a path in the trade of marine ornamental fishes and at the same time random exploitation has also lead to negative repercussions on coral reef ecosystem. Presently, these species is not listed in IUCN category as a threatened or endangered. However, if this situation persists for a long time, A. nigripes may also find a place in the Red data book in the near future. In this context, hatchery production of ornamental fishes is need of the hour.For the last two decades, the marine aquarium fish trade has witnessed steady growth.Consequently, these characteristics make them good reference fishes for scientific research, especially when conducting nutritional studies and embryonic and larval health.The eggs in the clutch developed rapidly when the male fanned properly. The present findings and the available reports revealed that there are variation in time and stages of embryonic development among different genus and species. This study demonstrates the successful hatchery production protocol for the clown fish, A. nigripes under captive conditions in an island region and the technology perfected for A. nigripes has been commercialized.
