Following six and a half years of dreaming, Petit spent eight months in NYC planning the execution of the coup. Aided by a team of friends and accomplices, Petit had to find a way to bypass the WTC's security; to smuggle the heavy steel cable and rigging equipment into the towers; to pass the wire between the two rooftops; to anchor the wire and tension it to withstand the winds and the swaying of the buildings.
James Marsh's documentary brings Petit's extraordinary adventure to life; through the testimony of Philippe himself and some of the co-conspirators who helped him create the unique and magnificent spectacle that became known as: "the artistic crime of the century".

A breathtaking documentary about a French high-wire walker who orchestrated and successfully executed an attempt to (illegally) walk on a wire between the two towers of the World Trade Center, when they were still standing, of course. He walked on the wire without a parachute. Enough said! This film made me feel incredibly good, and without trying to sound mawkish, it rejuvenated my belief in the human spirit and human creativity. It's incredibly well-made, very suspenseful and just superlative! It won several awards and rightly so - it's simply terrific! You HAVE to see this film. Period. Trust me, your life will be so much emptier without it. Extra features: DVD commentary from the filmmakers.
