Cephalometric Measurements Using Computerized Software Program (Paperback)

, ,
Cephalometric radiography is an important tool in the diagnosis and treatment planning. Manual tracing is time consuming and is subject to random and systematic error, which include identification and technical measurement errors and acquistion. The use of computerized software program offers several advantages, such as instant cehalometric analyses and image acquisition, facilitated image enhancement and archiving, and facilitated image sharing. This study was conducted to compare the Cephalometric measurements using a Compterized Software Program with Manual Tracings.19 angular and 11 linear measurements were analyzed on each radiograph. Results showed significant differences between the two methods for 5 (4 angular and 1 linear) out of 30 measurements. From the results it was concluded that both angular and linear measurements were accurate and reliable. Except, few measurements showing highly significant differences, the validity of the measurements with the software and with the conventional method are highly correlated.
